Targeted direct-mail advertising works the best for retailers who pick a specific zip code or zone where they believe their customers to be. Generally they will send out direct-mail marketing pieces within a 10-mile or 15-mile radius of their retail establishment. And they will send out coupons to entice people to come in and shop. Then they will make sure the customer service is great in order to keep the customer coming back.

Direct-mail marketing advertising is meant to get someone to do something and in the case of the business generally to get them to buy something. It does not always have to be like that.
